Characteristics of biochar

FLUID S.A. is a producer of the highest quality biochar produced on the basis of plant biomass. The technological line allows the biomass to be carbonized in a wide temperature range exceeding 700°C, thanks to which the obtained biochar may have different physicochemical characteristics.

The key parameter is the content of the carbon element in the biochar, which, depending on the ordered biochar, may vary between 70% and 93%.

Biochar, due to its properties, has a very wide range of applications. In particular, it is a valued renewable fuel in the energy sector, a raw material for the production of barbecue briquettes and is fundamental in the production of natural fertilizers, being usually their main ingredient.

The biochar produced as a result of biomass carbonization has got the highest energy value among all solid biofuels: over 25 GJ/Mg. The innovativeness of physicochemical composition of this fuel is based on the aforementioned high content of bound element of carbon (over 70%), low content of sulfur and chlorine. The composition of biochar FLUID brand is shown in the graph.

Biochar is a fuel with high calorific value, high carbon content, low flash point and low humidity. The table presents the advantages of co-incineration of biochar FLUID brand compared to traditional co-incineration of biofuels.

The final product – biochar – when leaving the reactor is in 90% free of contaminants and energy-enriched. The advantage of the proposed method of enriching renewable and waste fuels is obtaining clean fuel with high calorific value, whose combustion in boilers does not increase the emission of basic combustion. In this way, co-incineration can be freely carried out at a much higher (up to 100%) share of processed renewable or waste fuels.

Sales are made in bulk quantities. Orders below 1000 tons are realized on a specific order only for research and development purposes or as test batches.
